Safe Working at Heights/Use of Harness

Working at Heights & Safe Use of Harness & Fall Protection Equipment course is essential under the 2005 Safety Health and Welfare Act and 2007 General Application Regulations which covers the working at height regulations (part 4 of the General Application Regulations) it states that all employees must be trained in the work they do which in this case is working at heights. This course is designed to fulfil this requirement.

AIM

Working at Heights & Safe Use of Harness & Fall Protection Equipment provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to interpret the requirements of legislation and standards relevant to the prevention of falls from a height in the workplace.

OBJECTIVES

On successful completion of the course all delegates will

  • Be aware of the legislative requirements pertaining to working at height including the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 Part 4
  • Be able to conduct a risk assessment of working at height and plan for working at height
  • Be able to implement a safe system of work while working at height
  • Understand the general principles of safety for working at height
  • Understand the different types of fall protection systems and equipment available
  • Be aware of the maintenance and inspection requirements of personnel fall protection equipment
  • Know how to safely select, use, and inspect safety harnesses

  • Distinction Between Fall Arrest, Fall Restraint and Work Positioning
  • Fall Factors, Loads and Forces
  • Suitability and Selection of Different Systems
  • Examination, Care and Maintenance of Equipment
  • Practical Wearing of Fall Arrest Equipment etc.
  • Practical Usage of Fall Arrest Equipment etc.
  • After Use Care and maintenance of Equipment etc.

EQUIPMENT

All equipment necessary for practical exercises will be supplied by Trade Safety Ltd.

CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of this course a Trade Safety Ltd Training Certificate will be issued.
